MANAGER OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS for Oakdale
Architecture & Planning under contract to Sandy Springs Revitalization, Inc. and
its affiliate the
Sandy Springs Business Association.
(Staff, 1999
– 2002).
This private non-profit planning and redevelopment organization works in
cooperation with local government agencies to address economic development, urban design,
transportation and neighborhood preservation needs for a
6+ square mile overlay district in unincorporated Fulton County, GA. The
program process is modeled after the National Main Street Four Point approach
-- design, organization, promotion and economic restructuring.

Proven Success ~ Developed multi-faceted
marketing and communications program which focused community attention on
redevelopment needs and issues, increased local and regional awareness of
activities and accomplishments of SSRI/SSBA, and attracted millions of dollars
in public and private funds for planning and redevelopment projects. Supported award-winning plan implementation effort recognized by
the Georgia Planning
Association in 1999.

Public Involvement ~
Planned and coordinated SSRI community relations programs, planning
charrettes and special marketing events such as: The Livable Sandy Springs
Plan (LCI Plan); River Valley Rd. Neighborhood Design; Sandy Springs Parks
& Greenspace Initiative; annual budget presentation to the Fulton County Board of
Commissioners; Marketing presentations to developers and property
owners; ARC Developer Fair; SSRI Annual Meeting;
downtown
business district promotions 2 - 3 times a year.

Membership, Grants & Funding:
Managed SSRI membership activities. Prepared grant applications.
Supported relationships with private BLUEPRINT corporate donors.
Researched major funding obtained through local, state and federal sources,
particularly transportation funds. Prepared special presentations for
annual funding requests. Solicited donations for special proejcts.

Newsletter ~ Managed production and distribution of the
SSRI Milestone newsletter including content development, photos and
layout. Expanded circulation from
3,000 to 8,500 distributed to businesses, residents, civic and government
agencies within the focus area and around the Atlanta region. Expanded
coverage from 4-page to 8 pages. Upgraded to
4-color with new masthead and layout in 2002. Wrote and published
content for various collateral materials.

Web Site & E-mail Network ~ Initiated design and
development of prototype Sandy Springs Community Web Site and E-mail Network as a volunteer project in 1996. Secured SSRI
sponsorship and donation of private web site hosting in 1998. The
program proved over five years to be the most cost effective and timely medium
for promoting the community and all that it has to offer. Extensive
content includes a section for News & Community Announcements, redevelopment
Plans, Projects & Initiatives, a searchable Business Directory, Civic and
Neighborhood profiles, and shared space for non-profit partners.
Maintained sites for
Heritage Sandy Springs, the Sandy Springs Civic Roundtable, Abernathy Arts
Center, Keep Sandy Springs-NF Beautiful, and Leadership Sandy Springs.

MarCom ~ Coordinated activities of SSRI Marketing
Communications Committee established to guide the organization’s marketing
program. Coordinated implementation of a new organizational identity for SSRI
and SSBA in 2002 including new logos and template designs to be applied to
newsletter, brochures, pamphlets, direct mail and web site.

Volunteer ~ Participated on focus groups
that developed the 1993 Sandy Springs Revitalization Plan and subsequent
community plans. Served on the SSRI Board of
Directors 1996 - 1997. Volunteered on the SSRI Marketing &
Communications and Transportation Committees, providing photography, meeting
coordination and newsletter support. Was hired to fill the newly created
Communications Manager staff position in 1999.
